Applications for the next round of the PAE/SYPA Grants will open in Fall 2024.
A number of HKS research centers and initiatives are interested in supporting students conducting their Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) or Second Year Policy Analysis (SYPA) by providing small grants to help defray the cost of travel or research in the event the student's client is not able to provide funding. Please note: Applications will only be accepted through this process for PAE or SYPA funding.
This funding is limited, so in order to ensure a coordinated and equitable process, many centers and initiatives use the following common application process.
The PAE and SYPA grants encourage second-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) candidates and Master of Public Administration/ International Development (MPAID) candidates to engage with not-for-profit clients for their capstone projects. The grant program helps financially support students’ Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) or Second Year Policy Analysis (SYPA) projects that have a clear relevance to human rights policy. Only projects for not-for-profit clients are eligible for funding, as the program seeks to ensure students are not discouraged from selecting not-for-profit clients that may not otherwise be able to reimburse expenses.
How to Apply
All applications should include a brief description of the applicant's prior engagement with the Carr Center's programs and activities (limit: 250 words per student), or how their PAE engages one of the Carr Center’s programs.
