A Harvard Ethicist Explains Why Reopening Must Be Done Carefully

Director of the Edmond J. Safra Center on Ethics advises states to reopen the economy with caution to prevent a second wave of COVID-19.

States across the US have initiated discussions on how to reopen the economy. Experts like Danielle Allen are warning public officials that steps must be taken to ensure the health and safety of their communities. "We need to ensure that the entire essential worker workforce is getting routine testing," Allen says, "They must have appropriate medical support and support from their employers if they happen to test positive. Doing this alone requires us to get up to 2 million tests per day."
