On April 2nd and 3rd, 2018, the George Washington University in Washington, DC will host “Contentious Narratives: Digital Technology and the Attack on Liberal Democratic Norms.” The conference is sponsored by the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, the World Bank, and George Washington University. Conference participants will consider the effects of disinformation on peacebuilding and on efforts to document human rights abuse and war crimes. They will also consider disinformation’s effects on global economic development and governance initiatives.
In conjunction with the conference, the Journal of International Affairs at Columbia University has set aside a special issue devoted to these topics. We invite proposals for contributions to the special issue. The call for papers can be found here. If you are interested in attending the conference, please contact Carr Center Senior Fellow Steven Livingston at firstname.lastname@example.org.
