Discussion Questions:

Q1:  What is civil society? Why is independent civil society a core element of liberal democracy?

Q2:  What is happening to the independence of civil society in Hungary, Poland, Turkey and Russia?

Q3:  How is media freedom being curtailed by regulation in these countries?

Q4:  What is happening to judicial independence in these countries?

Q5:  Are there similar developments in other European democracies and in the US?
