Amnesty International: Fighting Human Rights Abuses

Date:

Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Location:

HKS, Taubman Building, Nye A (5th floor)

The Carr Center is delighted to host Amnesty International USA’s Executive Director, Margaret Huang.

Huang will discuss the organization’s fight against human rights abuses worldwide, including campaigns here in the U.S. against police brutality toward protestors (Ferguson, Baltimore, and Standing Rock Reservation) and opposing the Trump Executive Order banning refugees and immigrants from six Muslim countries. With 8 million members around the world, Amnesty International uses research, advocacy and grassroots activism to demand human rights for all.

Attendees will have the chance to ask Margaret questions about Amnesty’s work and policy issues, and to learn about career development in human rights research and advocacy.
