DESCRIPTION:\n	The new geopolitical environment taking shape in many parts o
f the world tends toward increasing authoritarianism and nationalistic com
petition. Inwardly focused governments are pursuing individual agendas\, a
nd eventually\, these differing agendas will collide.\n\n\n\n	In this talk\
, the career diplomat and former United Nations High Commissioner for Huma
 n Rights&nbsp\;Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein&nbsp\;will argue that the world’s peo
ple deserve better. Despite the demagoguery and isolationism that some lea
ders are pursuing\, he believes it is possible to pursue thoughtful diplom
acy and a system of connectivity\, coalitions\, and partnerships to reform
institutions and change policies. Through the power of alliances and lead
ership working together to solve the planet’s problems\, there is great po
tential for success.\n\n\n\n	A longtime advocate for the protection of fund
amental human rights\, Al Hussein will show that threats to global stabili
ty posed by racism\, xenophobia\, nationalism\, and authoritarian leaders
can be countered through vision\, energy\, and generosity of spirit.\n\n\n
\n	This event is free and open to the public.\n\n\n\n	Cosponsored by the Rad
cliffe Institute for Advanced Study\n\n\n\n	Register here\n\n\n\n	&nbsp\;\n
