ium.\n\n\n\n	&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	Pride &amp\; Progress: Film Festival and Sympos
ium brings together diverse human rights filmmakers and activists who are
leading the cultural fight against laws that criminalize and discriminate
against LGBTQ+ people in the former British colonies. These ancient vestig
es of imperialism are used to police and punish LGBTQ+ peoples\, identitie
s\, and relationships in 37 of the 53 Commonwealth countries\, leading to
persistent prejudice from both the government and broader public that prev
ent queer people from enjoying basic freedoms\, equal rights\, and human d
ignity. \n\n\n\n	&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	The principal aims of this film festival an
d symposium are to highlight the brave cultural work being done through fi
lm and to motivate audiences to stand up against these unjust laws and tak
e action to change them. We also recognize that some countries have recent
ly taken strides to overturn these oppressive and outdated laws\, and Prid
e &amp\; Progress will highlight this promising work as well. Join us!\n\n
