DESCRIPTION:\n	Please join the Carr Center for a film screening of the docum
entary\, 'The Prosecutors.' Produced by ART WORKS Projects.\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n
\n	&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	THE PROSECUTORS is the compelling story of Amani\, Jasmin
\, and Sandra\, three lawyers who fight to make sure that survivors of sex
ual violence in conflict get justice. The film was conceived out of a beli
ef that the law is for&nbsp\;everyone\, especially those who have lived th
rough unimaginable crimes during war - whether it be yesterday or twenty y
ears ago.\n\n\n\n	Our story begins in the Democratic Republic of Congo\, wh
ere Amani and her colleagues are working daily to ensure that rape\, sexua
l slavery\, and other types of abuse are not simply considered 'collateral
damage' in a war that has taken the lives of over 5\,000\,000 people. The
film goes on to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Colombia\,&nbsp\; where Jas
min and other prosecutors are collaborating with a network of civil societ
y partners to make sure that the tens of thousands of victims who experien
ced rape and other violations during the country's brutal war twenty years
ago have a chance to see justice - no matter how long it takes.&nbsp\;\n
 \n\n\n	Panelists:&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	Director &amp\; Producer Leslie Thomas\, an
Emmy-award winning art director\, has directed many internationally exhib
ited multi-media installations and short format documentary films. She is
the Founder and Executive Director of&nbsp\;ART WORKS Projects.\n\n\n\n	Dar
a Kay Cohen\,&nbsp\;Ford Foundation Associate Professor of Public Policy a
t the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Her rese
arch and teaching interests span the field of international relations\, in
cluding international security\, civil war and the dynamics of violence\,
and gender and conflict.\n\n\n\n	Jocelyn Kelly is the founding director for
Harvard Humanitarian Initiative’s (HHI) Women in War program\, and curren
tly is a fellow at HHI where she designs and implements projects to examin
e issues relating to gender\, peace\, and security in fragile states. Kell
y has been conducting health-related research using qualitative and quanti
tative research methods for over eight years both in national and internat
ional settings. She has given briefings related to gender and security to
the United Nations Security Council\, the U.S. State Department\, USAID\,
the World Bank\, OFDA\, the Woodrow Wilson Center\, and the U.S. Institute
  of Peace.\n\n\n\n	&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	&nbsp\;\n\n
