 e its 2019 Speaker Series:&nbsp\;Human Rights in Hard Places\, facilitated
  by Carr Center Executive Director\, Sushma Raman.\n\n\n\n	The Human Rights
  in Hard Places Speaker Series was formed to underscore that despite the c
 reation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948\,&nbsp\;vast 
 human rights abuses are still occurring&nbsp\;7 decades later.&nbsp\;\n\n
 \n\n	We hope for this to serve as a platform for individuals to hear from t
 he world's leading practitioners and academics in the human rights field\,
  and to listen\, question and engage.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	Claude Bruderle
 in\, Adjunct Lecturer at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health an
 d Harvard Kennedy School\, and Director of the Centre of Competence on Hum
 anitarian Negotiation\,&nbsp\;will give a talk titled\, 'Human Rights at t
 he Frontlines: Negotiating the Protection of Civilians.'\n\n\n\n	This prese
 ntation will review the latest empirical research on frontline negotiation
  practices by humanitarian professionals seeking compliance with human rig
 hts norms in conflict situations. Drawing from the negotiation experience 
 of field practitioners in South Sudan\, Nigeria\, Yemen\, Syria\, and othe
 r conflict environments\, Claude Bruderlein will discuss the most relevant
  strategies to enhance the protection of civilians affected by armed confl
 icts.\n\n
