 announce its 2019 Speaker Series:&nbsp\;Human Rights in Hard Places\, faci

 \n\n	The Human Rights in Hard Places Speaker Series was formed to underscor
 e that despite the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights i
 n 1948\,&nbsp\;vast human rights abuses are still occurring&nbsp\;7 decade
 s later.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	We hope for this to serve as a platform for individ
 uals to hear from the world's leading practitioners and academics in the h
 uman rights field\, and to listen\, question and engage.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n\n
 \n\n	In the second&nbsp\;installment of the series\,&nbsp\;Sarah Margon\, W
 ashington Director of Human Rights Watch\, will give a talk titled\, 'Auto
 crats\, Dictators\, and the Global Crack down on Human Rights.'&nbsp\;\n\n
 \n\n	Sarah Margon:&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n	Sarah Margon is the Washington director at
  Human Rights Watch. In this role\, she serves as the organization’s main 
 point of contact with the US government and provides strategic and advocac
 y guidance\, including legislative and policy development. Prior to joinin
 g Human Rights Watch\, Margon was associate director of sustainable securi
 ty and peacebuilding at the Center for American Progress. Margon also serv
 ed as senior foreign policy advisor to Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) and as st
 aff director to the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affai
 rs. She has been a guest on various national and international media progr
 ams and has published in a wide range of outlets from the Washington Post 
 to USA Today to Foreign Affairs. Margon holds a graduate degree from Georg
 etown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and an undergraduate de
 gree from Wesleyan University (Connecticut).\n\n
