 ure a talk by Greg Scarlatoiu\, 'From Pyongyang to Pyongchang and Back: En
 gagement\, Security\, and Human Rights' Mr. Scarlatoiu's bio is below:\n\n
 \n\n	Greg Scarlatoiu is the Executive Director of the Committee for Human R
 ights in North Korea (HRNK) in Washington\, D.C. He has coordinated 18 HRN
 K publications addressing North Korea’s human rights situation and the ope
 ration of its regime. He is a visiting professor at the Hankuk University 
 of Foreign Studies in Seoul as well as instructor and coordinator of the K
 orean Peninsula and Japan class at the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Ser
 vice Institute (FSI). Scarlatoiu is vice president of the executive board 
 of the International Council on Korean Studies (ICKS). Prior to HRNK\, Sca
 rlatoiu was with the Korea Economic Institute (KEI) in Washington\, D.C. H
 e has over six years of experience in international development\, on proje
 cts funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development\, the World Ba
 nk\, and the Asian Development Bank. For fourteen years\, he has authored 
 and broadcast a weekly Korean language column to North Korea for Radio Fre
 e Asia. A seasoned lecturer on Korean issues\, Scarlatoiu is a frequent co
 mmentator for CNN\, BBC\, Al Jazeera\, Voice of America\, and Radio Free A
 sia. He has published op-eds and letters to the editor in The Washington P
 ost and The New York Times. He has published academic papers with The Hann
 s Seidel Foundation\, The Asan Institute for Policy Studies\, and the Inte
 rnational Journal of Korean Studies. He has appeared as an expert witness 
 at several Congressional hearings. He holds a Master of Arts in Law and Di
 plomacy from the Fletcher School\, Tufts University\, and a Master of Arts
  and Bachelor of Arts from Seoul National University’s Department of Inter
 national Relations. He completed the MIT XXI Seminar for U.S. national sec
 urity leaders in 2016-2017. Mr. Scarlatoiu was awarded the title ‘Citizen 
 of Honor\, City of Seoul\,’ in January 1999. Scarlatoiu is fluent in Korea
 n\, French\, and Romanian. A native of Romania born and raised under that 
 country’s communist regime\, Scarlatoiu is a naturalized U.S. citizen.\n\n
